Family Friendly Activities in Summerville

Summerville, South Carolina is a great place to live with a family. Whether you have young children or teenagers, there are plenty of fun things to do around the Summerville area. We list a few ideas below. If you have any suggestions for family friendly activities please share them in the comments below!

  1. Summerville Farmers Market: Beginning on Saturday, April 14th the Summerville Farmers Market will be open again! The Farmers Market is not just a great place for kids, it’s also beloved by grandparents. Whenever my dad comes for a visit he has to go to the Farmers Market if it’s open! The market offers fresh produce, yummy treats, artisan crafts and live music.
  2. Azalea Park & Sculpture Garden: There’s more to do here than just hunt for Pokemons. I remember when Pokemon Go was at its peak, we spent a lot of time here among hundreds of others trying to “catch em all”. Once the craze slowed down the park became much less crowded. At Azalea Park, you can talk a walk, play some tennis and capture Instagram photos of the brass sculptures.  To access the entire park you will need to cross a busy road so keep an eye on those kiddos. But it’s a great opportunity to force some hand holding with kids who think they’re too old for it!
  3. Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site: Have fun and learn something too! Find archaeological remains at the historic site showing your family a peek into the early history of colonial South Carolina. The park is pet friendly so get the entire family, even the furry family members, out for a day in the sun! It’s just $2 for adults to visit the site, $1.25 for SC seniors and kids 15 and younger get in for free.
  4. Regal Azalea Square Stadium 16 & RPX: When all else fails, stick with the tried and true movie day. Whether your family would enjoy a comic book movie, like Black Panther, or a more young child friendly movie like Peter Rabbit or the upcoming Incredibles 2, Regal Azalea Square has clean facilities, comfy chairs and plenty of options with their 16 screens. If your family enjoys the movies, I recommend researching the Movie Pass. It’s just $9.95/month for an individual and you can see as many movies as you like during that month (only 1 per day). It’s a month to month subscription so if at any point you decide it’s not worth the subscription you can cancel.
